Due to the approaching storm, our Elders have decided to cancel our regularly scheduled Sunday gathering on Sunday, September 1, 2019. This decision was a result of considering the weight on our volunteers and consulting with both the YMCA Director and the Blanchard Park Director. It was communicated that the YMCA and the Park are both closing on Sunday making it necessary for us to cancel as well.
This is a slow-moving and still very unpredictable hurricane. We would encourage you to take the added time to prepare and seize opportunities to connect with and serve your neighbors.
Also, our sermon this Sunday was planned to be about observing the Sabbath and taking time for intentional rest. While this isn’t the way we’d have expected it to come about, we’d encourage you to make time to pause, remind yourself of God’s goodness and power over any storm, and avoid getting swept into the chaos that often comes with these events. Instead of seeing this as an interruption, know that opportunities arise for ministry in times like these that wouldn’t otherwise.
So let’s remember that our Sundays are important when we are gathered together. And they are also important when spread apart. Let’s be the church before, during, and after the storm!
